The University Innovation Hub Program (UIHP) hosted its inaugural Mentor Pool Development Program from November 4th to 6th, 2024, at the Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET) Innovation Hub in Rajshahi. This impactful event forms part of the broader Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation Ecosystem Development (DEIED) project, led by the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA).
Building a Sustainable Innovation Ecosystem
The program’s sessions were conducted by Ahmad Zakir bin Jaafar, a distinguished innovation catalyst and startup mentor from Malaysia and an Expert Mentor of the UIHP. His guidance reflected UIHP’s steadfast commitment to nurturing a sustainable ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship across Bangladesh’s university networks. Participants engaged in topics such as Lean Canvas, Stress Testing Desirability, Berkus Method and DCF Valuation and other topics through Discussion and Brainstorming Simulation. The program enhanced participants' understanding of cutting-edge practices in mentorship and entrepreneurship, adding immense value to the initiative.
Distinguished Guests and Participation
The closing ceremony was honoured by the presence of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. SM Abdur Razzak and Mr. Abul Fatah Md. Baligur Rahman, Project Director of the DEIED Project, BHTPA. Their support highlighted the program's strategic importance in strengthening local innovation and entrepreneurial efforts.
The program successfully trained 20 participants, comprising faculty members from Rajshahi University (RU), Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), and Varendra University, alongside a group of startup entrepreneurs. This diverse cohort stands ready to drive innovation and mentor future entrepreneurs, contributing to the development of a self-sustaining digital entrepreneurial landscape in Bangladesh.

UIHP's Mentor Pool Development Program is pivotal in cultivating a robust network of trained Mentors who can effectively guide and inspire emerging startups and innovators.
